We awoke early to go and catch waves with our new friend from the surf shop. He has surfed these waters for many years and will lead us to the best spots. The surf shop has been such a cool place to land a moment. The area in the back where we are camping is actually a surf school for kids. They have asked Amy Jo and I to return sometime and create a mermaid surfer festival on the property. I am already dreaming of what we could create, and about learning to surf, which I have wished for many years now. I have surfed on body boards in Hawaii, paddled boarded with Lili all over Florida, and had one on land surf lesson in Portugal many years, but I have yet to catch a wave on a surf board.
I hope the moment will come for me to learn to surf, and found my dream board at the shop. Lili will have to learn too like on the paddle board.
The owners of the Sebastian Inlet Surf Shop are angels for taking us in for a couple nights. It is like family already around here.
The beach was still foggy when we arrived. Our friends were already in the water, so Lili and I got made a little spot on the beach and then wandered and collected unique rocks and shells.
The waves were still a little rough today even here, so we decided to go check out another beach.
We made a couple stops to check on the waves at a few more spots, but none of the locals were giving good reports so we carried onto the next beach and set up to make some breakfast before a last surf.
While they surfed, Lili and I organized the van a bit and took a walk down the board walk. Once they were back we made our way into town to meet with an artist that carves necklaces from bone. Amy Jo has been wanting one like mine, although mine is from Hawaii many years ago. I have been looking to get one for my Goddaughter in Hawaii, and he had a beautiful mermaid with a dolphin which is perfect for her. Amy Jo found what she was looking for too. I also got a whale tail carved from an antler that now hangs in the van.
It has been so much fun having our caravan today of three vans following each other to each beach. That night the crew at the surf shop made us dinner as a return for last night. It was a potluck with live music, good company, and a fire. I even sang, or tried to, while I played my ukulele with another musician for the first time spontaneously. It was not the best, but it was fun. Thanks to all there for taking us in. You have been the best hosts one could have dreamed of!
