Hula, Lei Making, Ukulele Lessons, And My Goddaughter Dances

My morning was very full with activities at the resorts cultural center. I started with a ukulele class, then learned to make a lei, and finished with a hula class. It was all so much fun. I love learning about the cultures I visit, and the teacher was a pure delight. She has invited me back to learn with her anytime and comes from a long line of Hawaiian teachers. What an honor. She also gifted me a needle so that I can continue to make leis.

I ran from each class and missed my complimentary breakfast, but they were nice enough to send me with some juice and pastries. The time flew quickly before it was time to be picked up and go north. I did not get to see my goddaughter before she appeared on stage and I was brought to tears seeing her grace and beauty, so grown up. The tears just kept coming, even when I finally got to hug her. Tears of pure joy. Since I had learned to make leis that day, I made one for her and gifted it to her with some other flowers for her dance reception. I actually completed the lei in the dark during the performance.

It is so special to be here again and to arrive to see my Goddaughter dance. What a perfect day here in Hawaii. My heart is singing in bliss!
